Traffic survey comes to a dead end street

IF you aren't told about an opportunity, how are you supposed to complain about missing out?
That's the question Strathfield Council can't answer after many residents missed out on a traffic management study.
The council received complaints from some residents that they hadn't received the survey, and the nine streets where those residents live will be re-sent the questionnaire.
No attempt was made to find out if other areas had not received the survey.
Cr Elizabeth Gerwant believes the whole distribution needs to be done again to ensure everyone receives the survey.
The council is undertaking a local area traffic management study in the local government area north of Liverpool Rd, and sent the survey to about 10,500 homes.
The aim of the study is "to identify and propose solutions to excessive speed, safety problems, through traffic intrusion and on-street parking".
The distribution shortfall was raised at last week's council meeting in open forum by resident Terese Le Strange.
She said after canvassing various streets, she discovered many homes didn't get the survey.
Cr Gerwant conducted a smaller study with similar results.
Fortunately for ratepayers, the cost will be passed on to the consultants employed to do the original distribution.
