YOGA really is child's play, according to Haberfield's Nadia Di Lorenzo who teaches an innovative class called Kids Kardiyoga.
The classes are held weekly at the Dobroyd Aquatic Club in Rodd Point and, in an unusual twist, parents and kids do the class together.
"The class I run is unique," Mrs Di Lorenzo said.
"The aim is to give both the parents and the kids a thorough workout.
"It's best for kids aged between four and 12.
"It combines ashtanga yoga with low-impact games so both parties learn about good alignment and correct order of movement."
As a high school teacher with a strong involvement in education, and a mother-of-two, Mrs Di Lorenzo's program is designed to assist in the regulation of children's health issues.
She said both generations had a lot of fun.
"It is wonderful to see the parent and child spending time together and enjoying themselves.
"It's really interesting to watch the kids copy their parents' movements.
"The class is a good basis to introduce kids to yoga.
"The other great thing is that the skills learned in this session can enhance their performance in sport, dance and athletics.
"The location at the Dobroyd Aquatic Club is spectacular and the club is run by a volunteer group of people with a strong sense of community."
The classes are held every Tuesday from 6.15pm to 7.15pm. For details visit www.yogabody.com.au
