Marshall dreams of AFL glory
Wednesday 14 May, 2008 12:00pm
AT the age of four Marshall Lee pulled on his first pair of AFL boots, and was destined to follow in the steps of his father Mark and big brothers Mitchell and Morgan.
"I wanna play football with the big boys" were his first words in those early years.
Today Marshall says he wants to be like Jonathon Brown, the Brisbane Lions' star forward.
He is on the right track, completing 146 games with the North Ryde Dockers since 1999. This season he was determined to play in his own age group and transferred to the Drummoyne Power under-14 team.
He has been part of the winning combination at the Power. His Drummoyne team destroyed the visitors from Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs on May 4.
A consistent club Best and Fairest winner and Player Life Member at the North Ryde Dockers, Marshall has also played in the AFL Talented Player Program for the past two seasons.
He is presently training with the Sydney City training squad for this season's representative team and has become a welcome addition on the forward and centre lines of the Drummoyne Power under-14s.
His heart is with the Brisbane Lions after his grandfather gave him an old Fitzroy jumper for training 10 years ago, he still lists Jonathon Brown and former Lion Jason Akermanis as his favourite players.
